When it comes to wedding planning, there are a great many things you need to consider. Who makes your bridal party? What colour will the flowers be? What type of table do you need? Ok, perhaps the last question isn’t at the top of your mind right now. However, understanding your options can help ensure your evening celebrations go off swimmingly with flowing conversation and laughter. In this blog, we take a quick look at 2 popular table shapes and help you decide which one is right for your wedding marquee.
Round Tables
As the name suggests, round tables are just that – round. They come in a variety of sizes from 6-seaters through to 12-seaters and can be dressed into most wedding themes. Round tables are a very popular choice and it’s not hard to see why. Your table plan may be one of the hardest things you have to put together, especially if you’ve got single family members or friends joining the celebrations. You want to make sure everyone can talk and interact freely without anybody feeling left out. This is where round tables come in so handy. The face that everyone is seated facing into each other helps to keep conversation natural and encourages people to interact – even if they’re on their own. Equally, they are the perfect option if you’ve got a table of close friends as it gives everyone the chance to interact.
With round tables coming in a variety of different sizes, they are also easy to dress in marquee spaces while still allowing room on all sides for people to walk freely. One thing we will advise when it comes to round tables is this – avoid large centrepieces. Although they’ll surely look beautiful and take people’s breath away as they enter, oversized decorations can easily block people’s views. This can isolate those around the table or also make it harder to see during the traditional parts of your evening such as the speeches.
Trestle Tables
Trestle tables have a rectangular design and ordinarily seat 6 people with 3 on either side. They can be used on their own or lined up in a banquet style. In compact environments, these tables are perfect. They allow large numbers of guests to be seated with enough eating space and in a community setting. In addition, the rectangular design means you can personalise the layout easily to suit your needs. And, when all lined up in banquet style, they create a truly striking look – perfect for the most glamorous of weddings.
Another thing we love about trestle tables is the option for decoration. Long table runners with well-placed decorations are a striking option and really do add grandeur to your big day. However, they can make social interaction more difficult. In most situations, you’re only really able to talk to those on either side and opposite you. Those sat at the end can find themselves feeling rather isolated or unable to get involved in all the excitable chat.
Our Rustic Pine trestle tables also offer a vintage option for that country wedding feel, they are made of plain pine boards and don’t require a tablecloth, so can offer quite a saving.
Which One is Right for You?
The choice is really all up to you. Much of it will depend on the style you’re looking for – round tables are perfect for country chic while trestle tables have an undeniably luxury to them. Other factors to consider are how much space you have available and how much you want to encourage conversation between guests during your reception.
